Wells Is TWO!

Man, oh man. Little (big) man is TWO. Let's not talk about how long he's been two. I've mentally prepared this post since Wells was 18 months old, but it's just now coming to fruition because I've let go of having all the pictures I wanted to post in order. They'll come. More importantly, let's celebrate Wells' first two years and share what he's like at this age.

Wells,

You may have just turned 2, but you're more like a triplet to Mac and Paisley. Where they go and what they do, you're right there with them. There are no obstacles for your mind and heart are set on whatever your eyes see. We've been told you literally bounce off walls to get from one thing to another. You're care free and so spirited. The things you do are quite hilarious, and you know it.

Counting is something you've gotten really good at, and you can get all the way to thirteen. Then we start back with your favorite trio: 8, 9, 10… The other day you brought had something in each hand. You held up the one in your left and said 'geen' and held up the right hand and said 'yeyyow'. Yes! You know your colors?! These older siblings are making me shine, kiddo! Thanks, M and P! Because let's be honest, I don't practice counting or colors. I'll encourage if you start, but I don't initiate it. Good thing siblings pick up where I slack, right?

We've gotten used to the missing front tooth, and just like they said at the dentist office, it's become who you are. The missing tooth actually fits your personality perfectly. Fun, daring, and cute as a button.

On your second birthday you weighed about the same as Paisley on her fourth birthday. You're in a solid 2T and quickly into 3T. (You're officially in a 3T now that I'm writing this.) You've surpassed the size Mac was in at this point in the season so dressing you for church has been interesting. I can stretch every day wear, but when we put you in those precious longalls with peter pan collar shirts, my heart skips a beat, and they barely fit. Shoe wise you've quickly gone into a size 8, which is only 1 size behind Paisley. People say you're a linebacker. Too bad (for you) you're also my baby and losing the one tooth was hard enough. I won't be signing you up for contact sports.

This year we did your first hair cut. We basically took away the baby mullet. Dad had had enough of it.

You run and play so hard. When you're out, you're out for real. I will always cherish your chunky baby legs and round face. My baby you'll always be.

The front door of our (old) house in October.
We love and adore you, little Wellsy. You make us laugh and enjoy the little things. Your love for Mickey is unwavering, and we will snuggle you and watch 'Kiki' for as long as you'll let us. As for family names, you say 'Ma', 'Titi', and 'Coccy' for each sibling. Cutie pie, we think you're pretty special.

Happy 7th Month, Wells!

Here we are again... another month has flown by, and I'm pulling from all parts of my brain to document about this month. I love these little month celebrations, but they come so quickly. I have not been very good about writing on the month, but I am also taking a deep breath and realizing it's okay.
Wells,

You aren't sitting up yet, but boy do you try. I think you've realized just how vulnerable you are when laying flat. You have a little book I put in your lap, and you absolutely love it. The book has paper inside that crinkles, and you love that sound. The book must taste pretty good too. ;-)

You're still teething without any teeth actually coming through. I think the teeth have bothered you this week because you've been fussy during nap and before bed. You were so upset Monday night that you slept in our room. I didn't mind, of course.

Since we've taken the plunge for solids, you are well on your way to being a big boy. You have eaten rice cereal, sweet potatoes, cinnamon, the barley/rice/oatmeal mix, banana, carrots, and applesauce. You love bananas, sweet potatoes and cereal. The apple sauce is tart because you make the most sour face when you eat it. I've started to mix it with carrots, and you'll eat better then. You're not a great fan of plain carrots either. You liked the cinnamon, but spots started on your trunk so we nixed that spice.

You're still sweet as ever. You are getting a lot more vocal. "Ba ba ba ba" is your favorite word. We need to have a wave down by 9 months, according to Dr. Jeannie.

We love you, dear Wells. You are such a joy and blessing to us.

Mr. Wells Is 4 Months

My dearest, youngest, 4 month old Wells,

Let it be known that you're my baby, and you'll always be. This month you are all smiles, loves, laughter and thumb sucking. You found your thumb! This month you also started laughing- as if my heart needed another flutter. Lilly Scott never took to a paci or thumb, Mac was a pacifier baby (he called it a 'pass'), and Paisley is definitely a thumb sucker. It was a gamble to see what you would use to comfort yourself. At this point I'm glad you've found it regardless of what it is.

Your favorite noises I make are to say 'bah bah bah bah' over and over. You laugh and then get hiccups, just like Mac still does.

We don't do much tummy time, but you've gotten really good at holding your head up when you sit in the Bumbo. The tummy thing used to stress me, but really, how many adults are unable to get off their stomach from lack of tummy time? As my friend Mary said, a flat spot is a right of passage for subsequent children. Ha!! Any flat spot has been improved, and Dr. Jeanie says it's mostly from how you sleep at night. She increased your reflux medication by .5mL. You take Axid. After birth I was forcing Zantac down you, but it was awful. It made you gag, smelled like Listerine, and flavoring it was NO better. So we switched to the Axid that is alcohol free. You'll take this much better. Thank you. I so appreciate being on top of any reflux this go around because your brother and sister ruined a lot of clothes with their spit up.

Your numbers look good, and you're a fast growing boy! :o)

The routine we follow now is:

7:00 am Nurse
9 am Nap
11 am Nurse
1 pm Nap
3 pm Nurse
4:30 pm Nurse
7 pm Bath
7:30 Nurse, then Bed

Since we switched to this Mom's On Call routine you've been sleeping all night! Thank you, thank you!!!!! I love, love MOC. Their routine worked wonders for my struggle to get Mac and Paisley on some sort of routine, and it worked again for you. Even if I can't be as 'set in stone' as I was with Mac and Paisley, there is still flexibility with the routine. Because we all know life happens. I swear by their methods, and I'm thankful for the app so that I could remember what to do! (I'm starting to sound like an advertisement here, ha!)

We have had pretty days here and there, and you liked being outside :) Good thing because we'll be out a lot.

I've been working on your room! I am so so excited to see it all come together- and give you your own space.
As always, here are our sticker shots :)

We love you more every day!

Dear Mac and Paisley

Mac,
You are my sweet, gentle spirited boy. You're snuggles, social laughs, cars, trains, tv with dad, blueberries, balls, playing outside, 'Pete the Cat' books, being tickled, fried okra, animal cookies, rubbing your ears with lovey tags, Nash, wearing sunglasses, cupcakes, going places and so much more.
You have good manners, sweet boy. You say 'you okay?' if someone is hurt or crying. You respond 'I'm fine' if asked the same. You've started saying things are 'cute' and 'your welcome' when we say thank you.
After Labor Day, we took away your pacifier. It was hard for you to go to sleep the first night, but you have done SO well! I am so proud of you! You still have your lovey collection: monkey 'key', zebra and lion.
You've recently started screaming as a form of communication. It isn't precious or sweet. It's downright obnoxious. We are encouraging you to use your words.
You're so smart. You have an incredible vocabulary. The other day you said 'cars' and I encouraged you to play. Then you said 'moof' and I said 'you want them to move?' You smiled, said 'okay' and ran to your spot on the couch. Translation: you wanted to watch the 'Cars' mini movie we get on Amazon prime.
You love animals and their noises. We look for cows when we take LS to school every day. Oh, and you love calling her Scotty like dad and I do :)
I have no idea what you'll grow up to be, but from these days, you will be an engineer like your dad. You love watching how things work- you always have. You'll turn on a toy, turn it over and watch it. Dad says you're figuring out how things work like he used to do.
We love you, Mac man.

Dear Paisley,
Sweet girl, you are a riot. You keep me on my toes constantly. You are always by my side no matter where we are. When I'm getting ready for the day, you are on a stool right beside me... mocking everything I do from brushing my teeth to applying make up. I always keep a stool lined up for your arrival beside me.
You love to suck your thumb. That's going to be a challenge to take away. You love sun glasses, SHOES, going out, new things (you dance as I show you new things for you), Princess Sophia, tutus/dress up, DOLLS (you call  them 'beebees'), your best friend Hudson (pre-arranged marriage?), corn on the cob, twirling, music, keeping the beat, your big sister and anything she's into, going 'night night', your bed (thank goodness!), coloring, applesauce, keeping Mac in line, drinking out of the water fountain (you call water 'bachum' with a german accent), cheese and wearing your pajamas. You do not like vitamins. I have tried hiding them in everything from milk to applesauce, and you spit it out every time.

Turning 2 means finally facing forward!

 Preschool open gym
You are SO incredible venturous. You climb any and everything you can. When you are sleepy, you are a gentle girl. You let us hold and kiss on you, then you ask to go 'night night'. Since being in a big girl bed, you have become a little mother to Mac. If he's not awake or laying down when you are, his name is called. You've also started counting to him if he's not listening. Oh my. He's in for a road with more than one mom. ;o)
We love how much fun you are, sweet girl. You make us laugh all the time. You're ahead of your years, little mama to many. I am excited to see what you do with a new little brother or sister. We will see!

M and P,
What a ride we have ridden! We love having twins. It has been super hard (still is sometimes) but so rewarding. We are blessed with three amazing individuals as our children. You three love each other, and it warms my heart. Mac and Paisley, you embrace your time together and apart. You both have gotten SO big- it's amazing to witness.
We are so proud of you two. We think all three of our kids hung the moon.
