Mr. Wells Is 4 Months

My dearest, youngest, 4 month old Wells,

Let it be known that you're my baby, and you'll always be. This month you are all smiles, loves, laughter and thumb sucking. You found your thumb! This month you also started laughing- as if my heart needed another flutter. Lilly Scott never took to a paci or thumb, Mac was a pacifier baby (he called it a 'pass'), and Paisley is definitely a thumb sucker. It was a gamble to see what you would use to comfort yourself. At this point I'm glad you've found it regardless of what it is.

Your favorite noises I make are to say 'bah bah bah bah' over and over. You laugh and then get hiccups, just like Mac still does.

We don't do much tummy time, but you've gotten really good at holding your head up when you sit in the Bumbo. The tummy thing used to stress me, but really, how many adults are unable to get off their stomach from lack of tummy time? As my friend Mary said, a flat spot is a right of passage for subsequent children. Ha!! Any flat spot has been improved, and Dr. Jeanie says it's mostly from how you sleep at night. She increased your reflux medication by .5mL. You take Axid. After birth I was forcing Zantac down you, but it was awful. It made you gag, smelled like Listerine, and flavoring it was NO better. So we switched to the Axid that is alcohol free. You'll take this much better. Thank you. I so appreciate being on top of any reflux this go around because your brother and sister ruined a lot of clothes with their spit up.

Your numbers look good, and you're a fast growing boy! :o)

The routine we follow now is:

7:00 am Nurse
9 am Nap
11 am Nurse
1 pm Nap
3 pm Nurse
4:30 pm Nurse
7 pm Bath
7:30 Nurse, then Bed

Since we switched to this Mom's On Call routine you've been sleeping all night! Thank you, thank you!!!!! I love, love MOC. Their routine worked wonders for my struggle to get Mac and Paisley on some sort of routine, and it worked again for you. Even if I can't be as 'set in stone' as I was with Mac and Paisley, there is still flexibility with the routine. Because we all know life happens. I swear by their methods, and I'm thankful for the app so that I could remember what to do! (I'm starting to sound like an advertisement here, ha!)

We have had pretty days here and there, and you liked being outside :) Good thing because we'll be out a lot.

I've been working on your room! I am so so excited to see it all come together- and give you your own space.
As always, here are our sticker shots :)

We love you more every day!

Happy 3 Months, Wells!

Sweet, sweet boy. You are THREE months. Tres. The day you turned 3 months, Mac and Paisley turned 2 1/2 and Paw Paw turned 58. Big day for our family. ALL of you were born on the 19th of a month. Neato. (Dorko.) ;-P

The biggest thing you do now is SMILE. You've just now started to blow raspberries and bubbles like a champ. It's so cute, but really, everything you do is cute. Even when you're nursing, you'll stop and smile if we make eye contact. Be still, my heart.

I read this blog post the other day about when you know you've had your last. I sat there holding you with tears in my eyes. It talked about when you outgrow things that there's no need to pack them away for the next baby. You've outgrown your newborn, 0-3, and 3 month sizes. I'm not sure what you weigh, but I know you're a chunk. You have these rolls... on your arms, neck, and legs. They make every mama and grandma squeal. You've also mastered the lower bottom lip poke. It breaks my heart. Here's a picture of bubbles on your chin and the lip poke. You switched moods quickly.

I must document the first- and probably last- Super Bowl Sunday that my boys will stay with mama. The bath trumped the game. I didn't mind one bit. However, your dad claims the rest of your Super Bowl Sundays.

You're such an easy boy, you'll sleep anywhere. Thank you, Wells, thank you.

As for a routine or schedule, I am not able to be as strict as I was with Mac and Paisley. There is too much to juggle. You're so good to sleep and nurse anywhere. I DO miss that they were sleeping through the night by this point. I moved you across the room because you were going all night until 5 am. Since moving you, you've woken about 2-3 and again at 5-6 to eat. It won't last forever. I don't mind. During the day you're pretty spot on for waking and crying every 3 hours. That's really the only time you cry: to eat and sleep. I am so blessed with your easy going temperament.... Get ready for some mama TMI... Unless you have a booger. Every morning you have a stuffed nose, and it's always a huge booger. I've learned the trick to suctioning it, and you always breathe better after the 'storm'.

This month we've had 2 big snowfalls. The first went by without a picture, but the second didn't. I dressed you warm and got a picture for the memory books.

We love you, precious Wells. So very much.

Winter Wonderland 2014

We have had TWO beautiful snowfalls this year. School has been missed, we've slept in, and snow cream was definitely served for breakfast one morning. Because the snow hit us so hard, Dad was able to come home early both times, and he was off work for a full day. We all love those days.

The first snowfall was in January. I got a  phone call at 10 AM that school would dismiss at 10:30. The whole town let out because it took me over 2 hours to go 20 miles!

That morning we watched the snow, and it was beautiful!

After Jordan got home, we dressed everyone up, and they got to play in the first snow they've known!

The second snow wasn't such a traffic disaster because everyone took the weather prediction seriously this time. School was called out before the snow even started. The snow didn't let up for 2 days! Gorgeous!!

Below: The left was taken first, the the top right was taken about 30 minutes later. The bottom right picture was taken the next morning!

Pictures on the left were the night before, pictures on the right were the next morning.

Wells had to join in on the fun too. :o)

Happy 2 Months, Wells!

My sweet baby Wells. Oh, how I love your snuggles and sounds. You are laid back (perhaps because of your birth order), and you are pure sweetness. Your only real cries are to eat. You do cry when Paisley gets too close. I understand. We've called her 'the blonde monster' a few times. She want to take care of you and reminds us of your needs. Looks like you have two mamas, Wells.

We went for your 2 month check up on January 14, the day you turned 8 weeks. You're a healthy one! It is incredibly rewarding to see that you are growing and nourished by my body. What a special bond we are able to share outside the womb.

You are in solid 3 month outfits. You can wear 0-3 month in Gap footed outfits, but you're in 3/3-6 month sizes in Target one pieces. (Can you tell where we shop for you?) You grew to a size 1 diaper just a week after your birth, and our next diaper purchase will be size 2. (!!!!!) You're growing so fast!!
You aren't a tummy time fan, but when I hold you upright you're great at controlling your head. Surely that's equivalent to tummy time, right?
Acid reflux still bothers you so we are giving you medicine for that twice a day. Dr. Jeanie increased the dosage because of your hearty size, and it's helped you rest. She pointed out a slightly flat spot on the right side of your head where you tend to lay. I learned that babies with reflux do this because it relaxes the esophagus and decreases the acid burn. Interesting. So I turn your head to the right when you lay down... I hope that isn't going to relocate a flat spot... :-/

You've started smiling a lot, and it melts me! I claim you're a mama's boy. At this age you are pretty attached to me, and your dad is caring for your brother and sisters when I'm with you. It's been a crazy couple of months, but we are blessed... truly blessed. This cup continues to overflow.

You have given me 4-5 hours at night since you turned 8 weeks. Thank you! You'll nurse at 9/10 and then wake about 2/3. Then it's every couple of hours until we get up to start the day.
The co-sleeper is still beside me, and I'm not in any hurry to move you. Soon enough you'll be in your own room. :o)

We love you, precious boy!

Happy 8th Birthday, LS!

Lilly Scott turned 8 on January 11. We discuss her birthday party at least twice a month. Every time she attends a party it becomes exactly how she wants to celebrate her own. Finally she decided what she wanted, and I agreed to a slumber party with her closest friends.

Carsen and Bailey came to celebrate with us. They were the ring leaders of the party, and LS was excited to have 'cool' girls there with her friends. It's already started, I'm no longer cool.

The next morning LS asked to go skating. We met a couple of her friends there, and they had a blast.

 Cadence, LS and Gracie
Even Paisley got in on skating. She wanted to skate so badly, but I was solo and had Wells. We will definitely have to go back to let her try it! This time, Ms. Rachael and Cadence walked around with Paisley. She felt like big stuff.

After skating we met Mimi, Geep and Caitlin at Steak N Shake per Lilly's birthday lunch request.
Then we came back to the house.
Caitlin brought her rollerblades so she and LS could skate around the cul de sac.
We ended the birthday celebration with a bubble bath and the jets going full force. The girls loved all the bubbles. It made quite the bubbly mess.

Lilly Scott/ Scotty,

You are such a girl. You love dresses and shoes. You covet your personal time and acknowledge when it is needed. Your imagination is incredible as you can entertain yourself with the most random items. Reading isn't your favorite, but you are learning how important it is. I appreciate what a helper you can be, and I love the heart you possess. You get frustrated with Paisley who wants to be with you every second, but you really are a great big sister. When I hear how you teach her and love her, it touches my heart. Thank you for giving her the attention she craves from you.

You're a smart one! You make great grades, and you have so many friends who adore you. Drama is definitely a part of our world with you, and I hope one day it pays you well ;o)

You love, love cheetah print. Your laughter is contagious, and once the giggle box is turned, laughter fills the room.

I love you, sweet girl. You are a mix of dependent and independent. You struggle with not being good at everything and often give up after the first attempt. One goal we are working on is being involved in a team sport- swimming. We are starting with lessons to strengthen your swim strokes, and hopefully you'll progress to swim team. We'll see!

You are such a homebody. You would stay in your pajamas and at home 24/7 if you could. It's actually an ordeal to go places sometimes because you resist. Stubborn could be a word to describe you, my darling. I'm not sure where you get it ;-)

We love you, LS!
